The CTE Medical Pathway at Sierra High School offers courses in both a Medical Terminology and Introduction to Health Careers. Students enrolled in the Medical Pathway at Sierra HS can obtain CPR certification through the American Heart Association and earn transferrable credits (if all transferrable credit requirements are met) towards San Bernardino Valley Colleges Medical Terminology course.
Medical Terminology (A/B)
This class provides knowledge necessary to learn and recognize word roots, prefixes, and suffixes used in medical language, used in medical offices, hospitals and other health settings. Students review the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular lymphatic and other major systems of the human body, and they discuss terms related to physiology, anatomy and pathological conditions.
Introduction to Health Careers (A/B)
This class provides students with an overview of the medical profession including vital signs, health and safety in healthcare, professionalism in healthcare, legal and ethical responsibilities of a medical professional, measurements and mathematics
applied in healthcare careers, first aid and CPR.
